Bohumír Zeman

He achieved excellent results as early as a junior at the European Championships in 1974 and 1975. He excelled in several disciplines – slalom, giant slalom, and downhill. In these events, he also broke into the top twenty competitors at the 1980 Winter Olympics and at the World Championships in 1974 and 1978, and regularly participated in World Cup races. At the turn of the 1970s and 1980s, he also won the Winter Universiade three times.

Among his best results is 4th place in the combined event at the 1980 Lake Placid Olympics, which, however, according to the rules at the time, was only part of the World Championship. A year later, he won the combined event at the famous Hahnenkamm in Kitzbühel.

After ending his racing career, he worked as a coach, mainly abroad. Through his diplomatic efforts, he negotiated with FIS to host the World Cup in Špindlerův Mlýn, serving as its director from 2003 until 2011. For many years, he served as an official of the Ski Association and FIS.
