Bohumír Zeman

He achieved excellent results as a junior at the European Championships in 1974 and 1975. He excelled especially in turning disciplines – slalom and giant slalom. In these disciplines, at the Winter Olympic Games in 1980 and at the World Championships in 1974 and 1978, he broke into the top twenty competitors. However, he achieved his best result, fourth place, in the combined at Lake Placid 1980, which according to the rules at the time was only part of the World Championships. A year later, he won the combined at the famous Hahnenkamm in Kitzbühel. At the turn of the 70s and 80s, he also won the Winter Universiade three times.
He ended his racing career due to injury in 1982. After that, he worked as a coach, was also the mayor of Špindlerův Mlýn and was involved in organizing the downhill races there. To this day, he serves as an official of the Ski Association and FIS.
